KSRe is a major gameplay mod developed by sunnypunny. It implements a significant overhaul of the gameplay (outside of vessel construction and astrodynamics), introducing several new mechanics and changes to existing mechanics.

Features

Modular damage

  • Parts can now be incrementally damaged from various sources
  • Time-based EVA repairs
  • PAL 5000 diagnostic AI for assessing damages
  • Unique damage effects for select types of parts such as engines

Kerbal life

  • New Kerbal life app which acts as an interface to new Kerbal functions
  • Kerbals experience psychological and physical damage and recovery
  • 11 different crew roles
  • Ranks, personalities, non-player agencies

Mini-realism redesign

  • 3 core bipropellants
  • Varied throttle ranges, ullage, boiloff, weaker reaction wheels, persistent rotation, adjusted mass and fuel mass fractions
  • Engine instability, ignition failures, random part faults, part reliability development, fuel leaks

"Rocket science"

  • New stockalike Science system
  • 11 Science categories with specialization buffs
  • 22 Science resources
  • Subtype tech prerequisites and progressive tech tree discovery

Campaign progression

  • Opel RAK rocket vehicles and rocket planes
  • 7-tier tech tree with 50+ new techs
  • 7 additional primary missions and 20 additional secondary missions (implemented from hidden stock missions in the vanilla game files)
